　　Every student has his or her own ways of studying. Some students prefer studying alone rather than studying with a group of students while others stand on the opposite side. Which way is better? In my opinion, it depends on what kind of study it is and either way has its advantages. On the one hand, when you study alone, your efficiency increases. You may probably choose a quiet place without anyone there and sit comfortably by the table, which means you won't be interrupted by anyone else. As a result, you can arrange your time carefully and do what you plan to do strictly according to your arranged schedule. Therefore, your efficiency will increase if you keep on doing this. In addition, the quiet atmosphere is very helpful when you need to think over something deeply and thoroughly in order to learn something by heart. It is obvious that you can't keep on thinking with noise around you and you will soon become impatient. On the other hand, when you study with a group of people, especially those who are your close friends, it is easy for you to discuss something. For example, if you are doing a group project, new ideas will spring up one by one during the discussion because different people have different angles towards the same problem. Moreover, whenever you come up with a good idea, it will inspire the others and they will refine your opinion to make it more reasonable. As far as I am concerned, I prefer to study with a group of people because I want to avoid my inertia. Though more time will be arranged by me if I work alone, in most cases I don't concentrate on what I should do because of the inertia. The situation will change when someone comes to study with me because we can supervise each other. This means whenever either of us is doing something irrelevant to schoolwork, the other can tell him at once. I think this is the best way to let me work more efficiently. Some students prefer to study alone, Others prefer to study with a group of students .Which do you prefer? Each and every student has his/her own preference for study. Some prefer to study alone, while others prefer to study with a group of students. Both methods have their own relative merits. While alone, the focus of study can be easily kept, with little distraction which always accompanies a group of students. And at the same time, while references are adequate, to study alone is not only possible but it is also helpful to cultivate the ability to solve problems, and furthermore enhance one's independence. Moreover, by keeping focus and developing independence, students become more and more competitive, which is often deemed as a necessary quality. When learning with a group , discussing and debating become possible, which usually develop a perfect environment to develop critical thinking skills, and where many problems can even be solved unconsciously. While references are not easily accessible, and students' knowledge varies from one to another, they can complement each other ,and therefore save much time and energy. Furthermore, learning with a group simultaneously cultives students' good sense of cooperation, which is usually considered as an essential virtue. As of me, my preference depends on what subject I am learning or the phase in which I am. Different subjects may bring different choices. For example, if I was practicing guitar ,I'd better practice alone. If I was doing physical experiments , team work is always needed. Different phases also make choices different. Suppose I was learning a foreign language . IF I was practicing my basic pronunciation, I'd better learn by myself, for an adult learner, a tape recorder is fairly adequate . But if I were to practice my spoken skills, to study alone would be a poor choice. I should look for or create an opportunity to learn with a group, therefore learn more effectively.。

　　Competition is a common phenomenon in our society . We compete when we play games, we try to do better than others in our study, and there is constant competition for jobs, fame, wealth and so forth. Therefore,we can say that, in a certain sense, competition is one of the motive forces of the development of our modern society.

　　It is often believed, that competition and cooperation are in opposition to each other. Some people stress competition, without which, in their eyes, there is no responsibility, no drive and ultimately, no progress. Others advocate cooperation whatever they do. They are of the opinion that the dependence of people on one another has increased, without which the society we live in can not keep going smoothly. In reality, we find that in many cases competition goes hand in hand with cooperation. Lets take a football game for example. During the game, one team is competing against the other, but each member of the team must cooperate with his teammates. Otherwise, they would lose the game no matter how skillful each individual player might be. It is clear that competition has much to do with cooperation.

　　As far as I’m concerned, I do not agree with the view that competition and cooperation are always in conflict with each other. In my opinion, while advocating competition. We should never forget cooperation. In our social life, cooperation is especially necessary because most work is fulfilled with or through other people. So Ive come to the conclusion that competition are equally important.

Those who advocate and support the contention maintain that, as Chinese families get materially better-off in recent years, college students have the implicit freedom to spend their money on whatever they desire and hiring cleaners to keep their dorms clean can help students save time, which they presumably can spend on their studies. However, such a chain of reasoning is seriously flawed.Admittedly, people could spend their legitimately-earned money on whatever they like; however, they should do so only to the extent that they spend the money on those commodities and services they themselves are incapable of. For each college student sharing a dorm with 4 or 5 roommates, there are at most 3 or 5 square meters of space for him or her to tend to, including the space in the corridor. Keeping such a small space tidy and clean is a piece of cake for any college student as an adu< the labor involved in the process is minimal, so is the time required. When frugality is still a universally acknowledged virtue in the present-day world, spending money on hiring cleaners for a trivial responsibility students are wholly capable of performing themselves is simply an act of money squandering.Managing a dorm one lives in is really assuming responsibilities for one's own actions. When the dorm gets disorderly and unclean, it is its inhabitants who should get it tidy and clean. In performing the cleaning him/herself, a college student learns to share the responsibility for managing a public space of which one is a part. Usually, those students who claim they are too busy to clean their own dorms are most often found otherwise preoccupied with playing computer games or shopping. They refuse to do manual labor because they tend to regard themselves as elites or the “chosen ones” once they succeed in entering a college. As self-styled elites, they believe they are bound for white-collar careers and thus have the privilege to stay aloof from menial work of a blue-collar worker.This naturally leads to a serious question regarding the ultimate aim of our education. No one denies the importance of learning but acquiring learning is only part of the college education.
