Unit5  Weather Teaching aims: 1. To learn words about weather 2. To learn the common weather symbols.   3. Learn to ask and describe the weather conditions in different cities. Teaching key points and difficult points: 1. key words about weather 2. master the common weather symbols 3. master the correct ways to ask and describe the weather conditions 4. key sentences patterns about describing weather conditions Teaching procedures: Step1 Greeting Ask students a question: How do westners greet each other when they meet? Step2 Lead-in 1.  show students a video about weather on the screen. Ask the students to find out what kinds of weather there are in this video. — thunder 雷鳴 shower 陣雨 2. try to say more words about weather. such as sunny, snowy,cloudy, rainy, foggy,cold,hot,cool and warm 3. show students some pictures about weather symbols and ask some students to describe these weather symbols. 4. introduce the key sentences about asking and describing weather conditions Ask: What’s the weather like in…？ How’s the weather…？   Answer: It’s… 5. show students some pictures of cities in China with different weather conditions in it. Then do the pair work. Two students a group. One asks the weather condition in a city, and the other student describe it. e.g. — What’s the weather like in Jinhua? — It’s cloudy and cold. 6. play a game Try to be a weather man. Show students a picture of map with different weather conditions in each city. Ask one student to describe the weather conditon of each city. e.g. It’s sunny and cold in Hangzhou. 7. Practise   Make a report about the weather conditions in your hometown.   e.g. Hello! I am＿. Here is my report about the weather conditions in my hometown. It’s usually sunny and warm in spring, sunny and hot in summer, cloudy and cool in autumn and rainy and cold in winter. So spring is the best time to come to visit. Welcome! 8. Homework   Review the word in this chapter.   Ask your partner’s weather conditions of his/her hometown and write it down on the exercise book.
